It’s snowing today in Seattle: on Pat’s birthday. When I was in 6th grade there was what felt like a snow week: sledding down the hill by the Brenans’ and the Conquergoods’ house, playing Atari, playing football with the Lucarelli’s, Mr. Bill on SNL and most importantly making one of Pat’s movies: White Death.
Silent film. Kurt was the monster just indiscriminately killing the neighbors. I remember Dave getting killed, Johnny pulling a cool stunt where I think he fell hard on his ass. Bill is the one who called the cop: me. I chased Kurt and a struggle near the edge of the field left us tumbling over the side. We left it open ended as the monster’s hand shoved through the cover of his snowy grave. It felt like genius to me.
Such a great memory. Thanks Pat. I love you.

Please post an album or song that most influenced you that Pat played to you.

My memories of Pat are a highlight reel of what a kind, humorous, patient and compassionate friendship should feel like. I will never forget our two families traveling across Europe, and sharing the back seat of an Astro mini van with Pat and John. So many laughs and unbelievable experiences that remain an indelible part of who I am.
Miss you friend.

As I sit here in 2021 I think of the times Pat celebrated New Years with me at his house with Dominic. I was lonely and both he and Dominic comforted me. Vinnie and him sleeping in one room and Dominic and I sleeping on a bunk bed watching Tom and Jerry. I love you both and miss you in 2021.

We spent several New Year’s Eves with Pat. Though it’s been many years since, this night will always remind us of him and those precious memories.
In our early years after college, there were many of us that would gather on New Year’s Eve at one of our homes. Pat frequently hosted. For the first few, we would all dress up and have a “fancy” dinner (it was fancy because it was a sit-down dinner with a tablecloth involved). As the years went by the evening became less formal but always a big event. Board games, lots of food, the top 100 countdown on KZOK (or was it KISW?), whoever was in town or wanted to stop by, and loads of laughter all around.
Though it’s been many years since we spent a NYE together, the stories from those nights prevailed. Pat still told them…every chance he got. Among his favorites were a couple of stories from 1994’s gathering involving a memorable board game spat and some missing taquitos. He held all of the memories from those evenings dear and because of that, we do too (spats and all).
There is no doubt that tonight Pat and Ted (pictured above on New Year’s Eve 1989) are most certainly celebrating together in the most epic manner possible. Cheers to you both…we love and miss you.

Pat, Laura and I with our Great Grandma Powell. This was 1979 and the Supersonics won the NBA Championship (see the hats). Pat and his friends had a “band” called the Cockroaches, though I don’t remember the full story behind that. But it was important enough to have a custom shirt made.
