We spent several New Year’s Eves with Pat. Though it’s been many years since, this night will always remind us of him and those precious memories.
In our early years after college, there were many of us that would gather on New Year’s Eve at one of our homes. Pat frequently hosted. For the first few, we would all dress up and have a “fancy” dinner (it was fancy because it was a sit-down dinner with a tablecloth involved). As the years went by the evening became less formal but always a big event. Board games, lots of food, the top 100 countdown on KZOK (or was it KISW?), whoever was in town or wanted to stop by, and loads of laughter all around.
Though it’s been many years since we spent a NYE together, the stories from those nights prevailed. Pat still told them…every chance he got. Among his favorites were a couple of stories from 1994’s gathering involving a memorable board game spat and some missing taquitos. He held all of the memories from those evenings dear and because of that, we do too (spats and all).
There is no doubt that tonight Pat and Ted (pictured above on New Year’s Eve 1989) are most certainly celebrating together in the most epic manner possible. Cheers to you both…we love and miss you.
